Cynthia Lee is currently studying at New Media at Ryerson University. It’s currently her third year in the program. Cynthia is an artist that can be classified as very eccentric. She tends to bounce through different styles and different themes. She can go from cute to horror and it ranges with her work.

She is known to collect vinyl figures and soft toys with interesting characters like Gloomy Bear, Tokidoki products, Kubrick, Be@rbrick, and etc. Her favorite character so far is Gloomy Bear who is cute but dangerous.

She is very inspired by Asian culture, themes, works, and styles. She has a major interest in textile style art, which she incorporates into her work as much as possible. She likes traditional and very minimalist styles. She is not into making flashy high-tech works. She is very interested in them and it brings creative ideas in her mind. She is inspired not only by high tech works and complicated art but also by pop art, black and white photos and films, minimalism, and conceptual art.

Some of the themes in her works are blood, beauty, herself, emotions, landscapes, flowers, pop culture, and time. Her themes and styles continue to grow and expand to deal with social context. She is being open to many ideas and themes as she grows as and artist. Since she is still in her early art creating career she is still trying out a variety of themes and ways to implement the work. Once she finds her favorites them she would probably stick to the theme and style. She work currently has no consistency in the themes from project to project.
